Overview of Changes Made for P6 EPPM R8.x Releases )(h&Q? Ar
-->For legacy users of Primavera Enterprise Project Portfolio Management, you will notice many changes when upgrading from 7.0 or earlier to an R8.x release. The following lists changes to be aware of when upgrading to any R8.x release. H$~M`Y9I~
P6 Web Changes M1AZ}b c0]
P6 is now your main interface. It is web-based and was called P6 Web Access in previous releases. In P6, you will now find global dictionaries, administrator settings, and security privileges. I@3Q=14k%
In P6, you can do most things you could do in the desktop client for previous releases. P6 EPPM includes a version of the desktop client that connects to the main database. In R8.0, the desktop product included in P6 EPPM is called P6 Professional. In R8.1 the desktop product included in P6 EPPM is called P6 Optional Client. j~,h )C/ v
P6 Professional Project Management (P6 Professional) continues to be a separate product that can work standalone or for workgroups (see below for guidelines). Starting with R8.1, P6 Professional no longer connects to the P6 EPPM database. If you are using P6 EPPM, P6 Professional supports your offline needs. You can use import and export to move projects between the P6 EPPM and P6 Professional databases. ps"/}u l
Note: There are two P6 Professional's. One is the standalone product for R8.1. The second is the desktop product included with P6 EPPM R8.0. TK; \_yN
Job Services Changes eaV3) uP
All job services can now run on-demand and in real-time in P6. For example, you can run the following jobs on demand: Recalculate Assignment Costs and Store Period Performance. You can also run the following on-demand services as scheduled services in P6: Summarize Project, Schedule Project, Level Project Resources, Apply Actuals. You can also configure a separate server for job services. 5Y(r\Dd
You can no longer run recurring job services in P6 Optional Client. To access this functionality in P6 Optional Client, you will have to use the Windows command line interface to run batch reports and export projects as a service. Or you can run all your job services in P6. d^KBIz8$5l
Reporting Changes 2}^+ ]5
In R8.1, P6 now has additional tables (P6 EPPM Extended Schema) that support reporting directly from the P6 database. Reporting in P6 allows for near real-time reporting, improved storage, BI Publisher 11g support, SQL server support, and improved security. When you install your database, you will create a new user, PX Reporting User, which will allow you to run reports in P6. .cw!ls7d
Workflow Changes 7<h.KZPc
If you are a current jBPM user and upgrade to P6 EPPM R8.x, workflows and reviews data will not be available. You might want to close out all workflows and reviews that are in progress before upgrading to P6 EPPM R8.x. -L@]I$Yo
You can now use Oracle BPM 10g or 11g. ?Wwh _TO
Content Repository Changes X3P&"}a
If you are a current Apache JackRabbit user and upgrade to P6 EPPM R8.x, JackRabbit documents data will not migrate automatically. Refer to My Oracle Support's Knowledge Articles for information on migrating JackRabbit documents to Oracle Universal Content Management. Oracle recommends that you migrate the data before upgrading to R8.x. Q/9a,85
You can now use Oracle Universal Content Management or Microsoft SharePoint for your content repository. F|ETug n
Methodology Management and Project Architect Changes y7CWBTH0>
In P6 EPPM R8.x, Methodology Management and Project Architect have been removed and replaced with Project Templates. Since Project Architect has been removed, you will need to convert your methodologies to projects before you upgrade, then convert your projects to templates after you upgrade. iPMB$SdfO
P6 Team Member Mobile and E-mail Statusing Services hZ!oRWIU%G
Starting with P6 EPPM R8.1, P6 began offering new ways to update status. Team Members can now update their status with P6 Team Member for iPhone or through e-mail. 6dF $?I&
If users need to use timesheets, they should use only P6 Progress Reporter and avoid using P6 Team Member for iPhone, P6 Team Member E-mail Statusing Service, or P6 to update their status. Xa4GqV9M/-
