Best Practise for back end SQL database [复制链接]

need advice on some of the best practises to implement on the database side. Since one of the project which has around 40,000 activities will take 3 minutes to open, and exporting the project take 2 hours. thanks in advance.

what is your hardware configuration and operation system?  Type and version of database, what are they?

We are currently using Primavera 5.0 version with the backend database of MS SQL server 2000 sp4 on a Dell PowerEdge server 1850. /X#OX8gb]

there are max 10 users, with 4 constant connection during the day. the RAM used on server side is around 1.5G constant.

have do do the purge database on P5.0?

the database server is MS SQL 2000 not 2005. that was a typo and being corrected in the previous post. Primavera 5.0 version doesn't support MS SQL 2005. Sorry for the confusion.

this is my first question as the same.can the mirrior c act this speed? is the other projects  the same?

accord to P6 guide,the activities number is max 100,000,beyond the max, the PC's performance will be affected.your software is VER 5.O,maybe is less than 100.000.

launch P5.0, close all projects, do the summary to all projects, then purge the database. 6|%HCxWO  
when do the above, make sure you are the one and only one using the machine and it is not connected to internet

1. users are familiar and requested to purge their project from time to time. Is there any difference between user purge their project inside and do the purge in the all project summary? yhyh\.  
2. Mirrored C drive is for the operating system only.  all the applications and databases are on the D drive which is Raid 1. so the performance of C drive should not affect too much on the database. 9Mv4=k^7|4  
3. regarding the activities limit on P 5, i'd need some more search. but it is good to know that Primavera have the threshold for performance.

D driver is Raid 1,how long i don't touch the Raid technology.at first ,i doubt the hardware(mirrored or RAID etc).then ,the Primavera software.

we are fairly comfortable with the current hardware configuration. however, the database itself, like in any other applications,  will always need fine tune. Any tips for SQL server performance optimization specified to Primavera will be appreciated. Z`b{r;`m8

windows is good,MAC is good.but windows is not suit for the MAC.this  is applicability.
